Let’s create some Play-Doh sculptures! We start class with a couple of songs and a brief intro story to inspire our little creators and give them an exciting visual to play off of! Then, we get to playing. Our creations are always simple with straight-forward (and fun!) instructions. Each class you’ll need a few colors and occasionally some tools to follow along with our teachers as they smash, squish, roll, and cut. We also always leave plenty of room for each child to use their own creativity! Join us for 30 minutes of hand-muscle building, imagination-stretching, squishy-smashy fun!

Set yourself up for success by giving your child a comfy seat with a table or workspace. Please bring suggested three colors and any tools you may have to class. Parent participation potentially required to assist with creations and/or to operate the unmute button.

Learning Objectives:

We’ve turned the Play-Doh experience into a direction-following, hand-muscle growing, grip-strengthening class. We use this material in imaginative ways that helps to focus children’s attention on the muscles that will eventually help them hold a pencil, unscrew a cap, tie their shoes, and use utensils properly. Play-Doh is a fun, sensory item that offers the perfect way to subtly drop learning into their little worlds. We’ll count, discover shapes, learn about descriptions, utilize tools, work on colors, and encourage creative individuality.

Developmental Checklist:

  • Fine-motor skills
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Supports numeracy and literacy
  • Social skills
  • Creativity

Teacher Bio:

Miss Jade is a proud member of the Thinkertales team! Jade got her BFA in Musical Theater from AMDA: College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts. She has worked as both a performer and teacher of the arts for kids of all ages across the country. She's even gone so far as Alaska, the Caribbean, and many places in between. One of her favorite jobs was working as a performer on Disney Cruise Line and occasionally teaching guests dances from the shows on board! She loves helping kids discover new things that they've never done before by being silly and learning from mistakes. Jade's favorite color is green because it's just like her name!
